Live Channels app is for watching Live TV. Watch your favorite news, sports, movies and TV shows from various channel sources such as built-in tuner, IP-based tuners, and more and show them instantly on your Android TV.

Ratings and reviews

I don't know where all of these negative reviews are coming from. I am just using it as an alternative to the native HDHomerun app and as far as I'm concerned it's fine. It's more intuitive than the HDHomerun app and more responsive. With the HDHomerun app sometimes I have to tap my remote several times before it responds but that is not a problem with the live channels app. My only fault with it is it lists Pluto TV as a source but when you try to use Pluto TV there is nothing there. Hence four stars instead of five. But I wanted it mainly for my local channels via HDHomerun anyway. Also, I found at least in my case that it works better if I also have the HDHomerun app installed on my box even though I'm not using it. I am using this app on a Mibox 4.

App is not bad. I like the layout of menu and sourcing in various channel source and DVR functionality, I wish I can use HAUPPAUGE WinTV-DualHD Dual USB 2.0 HD TV Tuner 1595 on ShieldTv as it's not recognized at all even though HAuPPAUGE site suggests it's supported. Please add support of this ASAP. Also, it would be great if other apps like ABC, NBC, FOX, CNN, HGTV, NatGeo, etc... to be able to add to source. That would be awesome and five star.

I don’t know if this app is relatively new or not, but I downloaded to my new tv with android tv built in, and the interface seems really nice, except, it doesn’t actually work with anything. There’s a program guide, which doesn’t display any actual program info!?! Really, I’m really just hoping this is new and a “Work In Progress”.
