this app sucks. read all the other reviews. you can only purchase tickets on the day of travel. I purchased a weekend day pass at 8:00 on Friday night. intending to travel the next day. the ticket became effective immediately and expired late Friday night. I requested a refund on the chat and only got the run around that there were no refunds. they sent a screen shot showing a warning that the tickets are only good that day of travel. when I repurchased Saturday morning, no warning!!!

With the new update, you aren't able to decide when your ticket is activated. This normally wouldn't be a problem if not for the fact that you cannot refund activated tickets. Truly a grimy business practice. For a company that claims to not have money, yet: adds fins to turnstiles, spiked railing, blocking off stations with fencing, and having enough to pay for 'MTA Police', seems they have plenty. This is widely accessible PRIVATE transportation.

I'm giving this app a 1 star review because of recent policy changes that have made it very cumbersome to use. You can't hold tickets for future use anymore. Before this year, riders could purchase a ticket in advance for use at a later date; now you have to use any tickets you purchase on the day of purchase, or you get a surcharge of $8, which applies even if the app becomes unusable (the second issue) and you literally are unable to activate before you board.
