TLDR: Takes the guesswork out of strength training and what to do in the gym. Best fitness $$ I've spent this year. I wouldn't bother with the free version though. Took ten years off from strength training. I was looking for a sensible routine and discovered lots of people like this program. Whole experience has been excellent. Incorporates a tried and true model for progression and includes loads of customization option in the pro version. Sign up for his daily emails. They're excellent!

Excellent app, I'm 50 and the gains are incredible. I recommend playing with the app for a while, there is so much that can be customized I was unaware of when I started about 13 weeks ago. For instance, you may want to drop weight and do 8-12 reps, decrease sets to 4, to prioritize hypertrophy for while then go back to 5*5 for a while to prioritize strength. This app has many options.

Thanks but it doesn't work like that. 8-12 reps doesn't build more muscle than 5 reps. Rep continuum is a myth: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7927075/ Adding weight on the bar and doing enough volume builds muscle. Check the Stronglifts 5x5 Plus program in the app if you want more upper-body volume. It has high reps.

I love this app! It has given me what I need to really get motivated in the gym and a clear workout plan with examples (I have the paid version)! The only two things I wish were different: 1- If you could adjust goals. For example, I won't be doing weighted push ups, but I wish I could increase the goal number of push ups to continue improving that way (assist training workout additions). 2- I also wish it had a max rep calculator based on how many reps you can do with the weights assigned.
