Sylph is a quiet breathing companion. Pick a rhythm, follow the glow, and let everything slow down, for a minute before a meeting, or longer before sleep.

There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to keep up with. Open it, breathe, close it.

MAKE IT YOURS
App colour themes restyle every screen: the classic Sylph look is free, and Sylph Pro adds Moss, Rose, Gold, Violet and Lagoon. Every visual theme shows a live preview in Settings, and a tap plays a short sample of a haptic or a sound theme before you pick one. Session text can sit left, centre or out of the way, in three typefaces, free for everyone.

TECHNIQUES
Box, 4-7-8, Coherent and Relax are free forever. Sylph Pro adds Energise, Sleep Wind-Down, Extended Retention, Even Six, Soft Landing, Clear Morning, Still Air, and a custom pattern builder with six saved slots for rhythms of your own.

ON THE BIG SCREEN
With Sylph Pro, cast to your Google TV and breathe with the television: the glow, the phase cues, the countdown and the timer fill the big screen, while your phone stays the guide in your hand. Both stay in step, and pausing, resuming and ending work exactly as they do on the phone.

• Sessions from 1 to 5 minutes free; Pro adds 10-minute and "until I stop" lengths

Sylph is a relaxation and wellness app, not a medical device. It doesn't diagnose, treat or manage any health condition, and it isn't a substitute for professional care. Paced breathing can leave you light-headed, so sit or lie down, breathe only as deeply as is comfortable, and stop if you feel unwell. Don't follow a session while driving, or anywhere it isn't safe to let your attention go.
