Banking and payments in one app: The VR Banking App is your bank branch in your pocket, making banking easy and secure anytime, anywhere. Thanks to the integration of digital cards, it also becomes a payment app. The app gives you 24/7 access to your finances, making banking and payments simple, flexible, and convenient:

View and manage your accounts

Thanks to the account overview, you can conveniently view all your accounts – including those at other banks – in one place. The transaction display allows you to keep track of your finances with customizable overviews.

In addition, push notifications keep you informed in real time about all important transactions, such as transactions above or below a certain amount, regular account balance information, or Wero transactions – all according to your personal settings.

You also have access to current account statements and messages from your bank and its partners at any time in your inbox. Keep your finances under control – simply and clearly.

Transfer and pay

You can make transfers in real time or conveniently schedule them – entirely according to your needs. For even greater convenience, photo transfer lets you easily upload, photograph, or scan invoices, payment slips, or QR codes – review, approve, and you're done! Manage your standing orders flexibly and always keep track of your regular payments.

Now you can also pay with your girocard on your mobile device. With the VR Banking app, your smartphone becomes your wallet, and you can pay for your purchases simply by unlocking your device – contactless and secure, just like with your physical cards.

With Wero, you can send and request money from account to account in real time and share expenses. It's quick and easy, because you don't need an IBAN – your contact's mobile phone number or email address is all you need.

Sign up for products and use services
Keep track of our offers and conveniently sign up for new products directly through the app. Top up your mobile credit in just a few steps, easily submit a tax exemption order, or quickly find the nearest ATM or branch.

With the CO₂Check, you can also analyze your personal carbon footprint and develop a better understanding of your own contribution to climate protection. This makes your app a versatile companion for finances and sustainability.

Ratings and reviews

Coming from UK banking the VR app or Volksbank Isn't for banking. The amount of times I've stood at the till not being able to pay as there was some error with the app. I just use my UK bank account in Germany. It's a pain but at least then I know I'll be able to pay when it comes to it. If it weren't for the German bureaucracy things like this wouldn't be so hard to achieve.

Despite of its importance and being connected to all kinds of personally identifying fallback methods, you may eventually typo your password one too many times and be locked out for the entire weekend without warning. Their service hotline isn't available on weekends either. Wouldn't be half as much of a hassle if they weren't closing down all their ATMs. My partner is having a lot of trouble with their support, or lack thereof, as well. Features aren't made available as easily as they could be.

Used to be with Volksbank years ago, but the app was clunky, slow and you had TAN nonsense to deal with. Since then, wow. So much better. Biometrics for login, authenticator app for transactions, hell it even adds up your minuses - no more maths to work out how much you have! (I'm not German clearly, I'm from the UK so I'm used to instant transactions and immediate banking updates - I'm just quite excited to see Germany reach 2009 technology. Instant free payment transfers won't be long now!)
