The new update will not allow me to hold my phone in portrait, only landscape. Its super zoomed in with large (useless) picd, so really hard to read anything. What the heck happened to the single page weather warnings? That is why I have this app. Not for entertainment, only for emergencies, and you changed the interfece to be useless and annoying. >.< I liked this app for its simplicity, directness and privacy to the end user. I will try it a bit longer but the changes aren't good.

I too am very disappointed in the reliability of this app as of late. I haven't been getting alerts to severe thunder storm warnings and other warings as of late. 32 years of experience in emergency services and emergency management, at the Federl level have taught me that it is the statements and watches and that can make the difference. Not the knee jerk last minute notifications or warnings. Sometimes those are just too late. To get ZERO notifications... well that is just too unacceptable!

An update: As of September 14, the weather alerts on the FEMA App have been fully restored! You will now be able to receive all alerts from the National Weather Service for your saved locations. Our apologies for the outage. You can email us at fema-app@fema.dhs.gov for more details and updates.

After my phone's "Wireless Emergency Alerts" app quit working, for no apparent reason, I was looking for an alternative. This one seems to work with all the crazy weather we have had lately (notifications are the same as NWS). My big problem is the app says notifications are sent by TEXT message. The only way I get any messages is to connect to the internet and find if a watch/warning has been sent. To me, requiring internet service is not a text. I don't have unlimited data. What am I missing?
