About this app

Itinera is the app designed for those who love the outdoors and want to discover, record, and share their routes: hikes, bike rides, mountain bike rides, runs, walks, and city visits. The project was born from a simple idea: let the community build an ever-expanding map of recommended routes, one outing at a time.

With Itinera, you can search for itineraries near you or in the area where you're about to go on vacation, filtering by activity type and difficulty level from sixteen different categories, from trekking to kayaking, skiing, and trail running.

During your route, you can follow your route on the map and receive an alert if you stray from the original route. GPS recording also works in the background, so you can lock your screen and put your phone in your pocket without interrupting the tracking of distance, elevation gain, and duration.

Along the way, you can take automatically geotagged photos at the exact spot where they were taken, add notes, and, once you're back home, publish your itinerary so others can discover it. Reviews and a quality score help the best routes stand out.

Other useful features include a planner to draw new routes directly on the map, import and export of tracks in GPX format (compatible with Wikiloc, Garmin, Komoot, and Strava), an elevation profile with automatically calculated ascents and descents, and real-time location sharing for safer outings.

Privacy is key: you can use a public username without revealing your real name, make your routes private, and rely on reporting and blocking tools.

Recording and sharing your routes is free forever, without ads. An optional Premium plan offers advanced navigation, complete offline maps, and more detailed training statistics.
