Ratings and reviews

Been using the app for months to plan and follow hikes. I still carry a paper map around in case of emergencies, but I haven't used it since installing the app. The app is just so much more convenient. One feature I would like to see is the ability to add nodes/waypoints anywhere on a route, rather than just at the end. I'm surprised to see so many people having performance issues with the app. For me it starts up instantly, has never crashed and doesn't excessively drain my battery (Pixel 5).

Obviously you can't beat the quality of the maps, but that isn't why I'm reviewing the app. It has some essential features missing. I can plan a great route on the web version, with detailed waypoints. But from what I can tell, these key waypoints are not shown anywhere in the app. They may be essential to navigation, but you have to print a route card at home to list them, then hope you don't miss them as you walk.

Possibly the worst app I've ever used made by a big company. Constant crashing, freezing, inability to function offline correctly when you really need it, this only needs to do one thing - be a reliable map. Absolute failure. Cannot replace paper map yet. Depend on this at your peril. Suggestion: UK has patchy data reception. Build the offline mode to be rock solid especially when data comes and goes. Make your serious hikers happy again.
