A superb app, as one would expect from Ordnance Survey, but it loses a star because it no longer supports screen rotation to view in landscape mode. That is just so frustrating. Update. Lo and behold, it now works in landscape 😊. It's so nice when a developer actually reads and acts on people's comments. Updated to 5 stars.

Hi Robert, thanks for your feedback, we've made a recent update to the app so if you update to the latest version (5.3.6), you'll now be able to use the app in landscape mode. Hope you're enjoying the app and this helps to get a 5* rating!

A GREAT APP WHEN IT WORKS. But it can go wrong at any moment - the phone battery can die; and the magic pink triangle can appear on the map literally miles from where you in fact are. This seems to happen most in misty weather when you need it most. Fixes are delete & reinstall, & recalibrate the phone compass (google it). The map on the phone is still there but it's much harder to use than a paper map, & the inbuilt compass is often wrong. Don't go anywhere wild without a paper map & compass.

What a disaster! I have been an OS Maps subscriber for many years, but this will be my last. I hated the app updated from the start but hoped the glitches would be resolved. However, they haven't. It is clunky, unintuitive, and poor navigation for saved routes. The worst issue is how long maps take to load, sometimes minutes. This includes downloaded maps. Goodbye OS Maps there are much better solutions out there.

What’s new

In this release you can now save a dropped pin to your ‘Saved’ area so that you can use it later. You can choose to save your favourite pub, point of interest, or some where new you’d like to explore. You can then add a saved pin to a route, and share with friends.

To save a pin, drop a pin or search for a location then tap ‘Save pin'. You can turn pins on or off by going to the map layers (3 squares icon), and see a list view under ‘Pins’ on the Saved tab.
