Speech-to-text that runs entirely on your phone. No internet, no account, no upload. The speech recognition model sits inside the app, so your voice never leaves the device.

Voice Type gives you three ways to turn speech into text, all using the same offline engine.

FLOATING MIC BUBBLE
A microphone bubble that floats over every other app. Drag it anywhere, and it stays there. Tap to record, tap to stop, and the transcript opens in a card with one button to copy it. Paste it into any chat, email, note, or form. Long-press to put it away.

VOICE KEYBOARD
A real Android keyboard that you can switch to from any text field. Tap the mic, talk, tap again, and the text lands straight in the field you were already in. No copying and pasting. Voice typing refuses to run in password fields by design.

TRANSCRIBE AN AUDIO FILE
Convert audio to text from a file already on your phone: MP3, M4A, WAV, or anything else Android can play. A voice memo, a recorded lecture, or a long interview. The transcript builds up as it goes, with a progress bar showing how far along it is and a copy button at the end.

NO LENGTH LIMIT
Long audio is split at natural pauses and stitched back together, so whether it's three seconds or three hours, it follows the same process. Transcription starts while you are still talking, not after you stop.

TWO MODELS, BOTH INCLUDED
Tiny is faster and lighter. Base is more accurate but slower. Switch at any time. Your choice applies to the bubble, the keyboard, and file transcription alike. Nothing to download, ever.

WHY OFFLINE MATTERS
Most speech-to-text apps record you, upload the audio to a server, and send the text back. That needs a signal, an account, and trust. This one does the speech recognition on your own phone:

- Works in flight mode, on the metro, in a basement, or anywhere with no signal
- No sign-up, no login, no subscription, and no per-minute credits
- Nothing is uploaded, so nothing can leak
- No waiting on a server over a bad connection

Both models ship inside the app, which is why the download is large. That's the trade-off for never needing a network.

NO ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE
Voice Type does not use Android's Accessibility Service. Apps that type into other apps often ask for it, and that permission can read your screen. This one uses the standard keyboard API and a floating window instead, so it never gets that access.

GETTING STARTED
1. Open the app and choose a model. Base is selected by default.
2. Switch on the floating bubble, or tap Voice Keyboard to enable it in Android settings.
3. Talk. The first recording takes a moment while the model loads; after that, it starts instantly.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Does it really work with no internet? Yes. Turn on flight mode, and it behaves the same.
Do I need an account? No sign-up, no email, no login.
Is there a time limit or a daily quota? No. Dictate as long as you like, as often as you like.
Is my audio kept? No. Speech becomes text, and the audio is discarded. Nothing is sent to a server.
Does it type inside other apps? Yes. Use voice-to-text through the bubble or keyboard in any app with a text field.

- Speech recognition on a phone is not perfect. A quiet room and a close mic give the best results.
- Free and supported by ads.

PERMISSIONS
Microphone: To record what you dictate. Recording runs as a foreground service with a notification while the bubble is on.
Display over other apps: Only for the floating bubble.
Notifications: For the recording notification required by Android.
