Ratings and reviews

The world basically running on AWS isn't a terribly reassuring thought once you experience their consumer software and hardware. What used to be simple and straightforward, like pairing the device or teaching it a new WiFi password is clunky and full of bugs. It's like they think there aren't any other options for smart speakers on the market.(not that any of those are much better.)

I will be trading my amazon Alexas for google Homes because this app is so painful to use. Constant pop-ups that are far more annoying than helpful. The UI is clogged with subversive ads and unnecessary recommendations. I don't want all the junk at the top and the bottom of the screen when I'm trying to look at my shopping list. So much of the app is clunky and unnecessary, all in the name of more profits. I'd literally buy more stuff if the damn suggestions could get out of my way.

Wish the home screen was more customizable to add individual elements I use most, like music & activating routines, instead of irrelevant suggestions. Routines should default to my list instead of yet more suggestions. Whoever did the last redesign must hate music. The music controls used to be one of the five buttons at the bottom of the home screen. Now there are only three and "Play" was shunted to a sub-menu. Thank you Amazon for assuming that this feature was unimportant to me and others.
