Ratings and reviews

I've been using this app for over 10 years and the older versions were so simple and basic. Now it's cluttered with so much tracking, recording, and other pointless nonsense. Take for example when using the map and searching for trails, there are filters on top of page and large search bar taking up half the map. Why? There's already and option for filters. Also, navigating downloaded map gets annoying when the record button pops up and I don't want to record. Please bring back basic version.

If you were into hiking, or trail running, this app is perfect. I've used it for the past 2 years on many long hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The maps are great, and the commentary by people who have hiked the mountain have been invaluable to me; especially where the commentary is up to date. Recently, on the Android version I've noticed that it's almost impossible to leave a review: deletes the review if you try to move the cursor to reread. Frustrating!

Reducing my review from 5 stars to 2. One of my favorite features of the app used to be being able to see pictures of the trails, like a preview to help you decide whether or not to go there. Now, while you can still see pictures, you're forced to see them in portrait orientation. Landscape orientation is called "landscape" for a reason, yet this app no longer let's you view landscapes in landscape orientation. You can now only view an awkward vertical slice of the middle third of pictures
