Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts by adding a second step of verification when you sign in. This means that in addition to your password, you'll also need to enter a code that is generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone. The verification code can be generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone, even if you don't have a network or cellular connection.

App no longer appears in my app drawer or on my home screen, and when I search my device it doesn't appear. However, when I search the play store it says it's installed and gives me the option to open the app. I'll be really upset if something happens and I have to go through some pita process to recover a bunch of accounts that use two-factor with Google authenticator.

Serious flaw in "Privacy screen" function. The app has a "Privacy screen" option that supposed to secure the app so that the user can only see the authentication codes if they biometrics to open it. However, you can bypass the biometric scan by simply swiping "back" twice and the lock screen disappears, and you can see the codes.

I didn't delete any of my codes, but all of a sudden they were all gone and support have been absolutely useless. basically telling me there's nothing I can do. I didn't delete anything. why are they gone? why won't they help me get them back? The backup in my account is also empty. I have lost access to a lot of services, including government services. Zero help from Google regarding this. I have switched to Bitwarden Authenticator.
