With the new mobile application for your Direct Express® Debit MasterCard® card, you can manage your money conveniently and securely from your mobile device. The mobile application is free to download for the cardholders whose card number starts with 533248. You need to register again with your card details prior to logging in the first time.

Please Note: If your card begins with 511563 DO NOT download this app. Please look for the yellow Direct Express® logo with a description stating that the app is for cards which start with the numbers 511563.

When you sign up to receive your federal benefits on the Direct Express® card, you will receive your payment every month without having to worry about cashing your check or having it lost or stolen. Instead of receiving a check, your money will be automatically deposited to your Direct Express® card account on payment day. You can use your card to make purchases at stores that accept Debit MasterCard®, withdraw cash from Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), and get cash back when you make purchases. You can also use your debit card online to make payments and to also buy money orders at the U.S. Post Office.

I previously had used Direct Express card yellow (#5115) w/o any issues. A year ago, my benefits were loaded to a new D.E. card green (#5332). So far, so good. Choosing Direct Express debit to have my benefit payments loaded to was one of the best decisions I've made. I highly recommend Direct Express to anyone who doesn't have banking access. And is looking for a safe easy way to receive their benefit payments using a debit card instead of receiving a paper check.

if the notifications don't show up on your pop up notication bar, you're out of luck trying to access the app, while out in public. Even with biometric access, it continues to ask for the extra security. This is very aggravating and can be stressful. Navigating the app itself, in order to place the card on google pay, and other payment methods, has proven to be a challenge. I would not choose this system if I had a choice.

I've gotten concerned about any financial apps on my phone & started checking out different things on them. I found out that there are hackers/scammers- whatever you call them - who have set up fake websites/apps for bank cards that we all use & you don't have anyway of knowing when you are going to be directed to one of these when you're trying to set up your acct. I found that my Direct Express was set up on a fake app or website! Only my curiosity as I found it by what links opened w/app.
