A major failing is that this app does not rotate to landscape mode on a phone. Apparently this is an intentional design decision, but it is a bad one. The app shows the scheduled programs, but the names of those programs are often cut off in portrait mode because the screen is too narrow. Rotating to landscape mode would reduce the number of channels visible at a time, but would allow the full name of the next scheduled program to be visible. Landscape mode works just fine on a tablet.

At least on my HTC 816, the app consistently has errors. Almost every time I want to watch a specific show the app can't seem to process the request and gives an "unknown error has occurred, please try again" and despite clicking try again multiple times it never works. A later update allowed me to view channels but not change the channel though the app.

As others have mentioned, this is more of a TV guide app than a remote. It seems to have the ability to cue up channels or DVR'd programs and run them, but little else. For instance, if you've already watched a recorded show and you're at the end of the timeline, it will start from there, with no transport buttons to return to the beginning or rewind. Same with the channel selections (none of the pause/rw/ff or info commands). Not sure if the command set available over the network is simply limited like that, but ideally, it should have more of the handheld remote's functions. Lastly (if Xfinity people read these)- My list of DVR'd programs is somehow missing the last couple entries (chronologically), like it has a limit on how far back it goes. Also, it's a bit difficult to assign control to a box and I can't see how to reassign it in the prefs after the initial setup. I first assign a box to control (for TV functions), but then it asks for a separate selection for the DVR. I don't seem to be able to control the DVR on the same box that I'm controlling the TV on. FWIW, this is on "regular" Xfinity DVR boxes, not the X1 or whatever (we didn't like that system here). -Thanks
