Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography

Ratings and reviews

Overall works well. My main complaints are that the app doesn't sync well. Emails I've deleted on the desktop are still showing in my inbox. I also don't like that the newest email in a thread appears at the bottom. There's no option to change this, you either live with it or ungroup all emails. I'd be more willing to sign up for a subscription if it weren't for these issues. Edit: I know I can ungroup them, I don't want to.

I am a long time user of Proton Mail. I have been using this as my primary email for 6 years now. My storage limit was 1GB. I was at 502MB used. Without warning, my limit was reduced to 500MB forcing me to pay for the Plus membership to be able to receive or send emails. It is very sad to me because I swore by Proton. They were the absolute best option out there, and now they are scamming people into paying for something they shouldn't need.

While the new app update might perform very well, the overall looks are not that great. Many of us value our space and compact look and this is far from that. Starting with the overall spacing and text, the letter to the left side, tags, attachments... ALL of these items just space my inbox out even more. Now I just spend my time scrolling in the app. In fact I am finding reasons to open Proton Mail on my PC instead and just ignore the app notifications I get on my phone. Wasn't an issue before.
