Requirements - The latest version of Google Camera only works on Pixel phones running Android 12 and above. The latest version of Google Camera for Wear OS only works on Wear OS 2.0 devices connected to Pixel phones. Some features are not available on all devices.

Ratings and reviews

The app has suddenly become worse. It focuses on the background for 50% of the shots despite touching on the subject. This happens way more often when there is not adequate light. With front camera, things are really good. The app definitely requires an update.

Reliable with good quality. Annoyingly, you cannot link a custom gallery app, but receive a "google photos is disabled" notification when pressing the "recent pics" preview. Starting the app via the power button twice (possibly specific to Pixel6a) feels outdated and slow, e.g. when you are used to motorola gestures (vertical rotate).

I can't exactly say when it gotten worse but it's not the reliable "shoot and forget" camera it used to be. Sure, 50% of the time it makes great Photos but the other half of Photos are not great. There is either something wrong with the colors, the whitebalance or the image is simply not really sharp. Also you can't change the default viewing App away from Google Photos.
