Google Kids Space is a tablet experience with a custom home screen and library of quality content for children under 9. Kids have the ability to customize their experience with unique avatars and receive content recommendations based on their interests, while parents can set boundaries with parental controls.

Google Kids Space requires a Google Account for your child and a compatible Android device.

Teacher-approved apps and games
Google Kids Space comes with apps and games from Google Play that have been approved by teachers and children’s education and media specialists. Teacher Approved apps are age-appropriate, thoughtfully designed, and fun or inspiring.

For parents who want flexibility beyond Google Kids Space recommendations, you can add even more content from the Google Play store through the parents’ menu.

A catalog from Play Books has been expertly curated to inspire a love of reading. With delightful titles and characters you’ll recognize, there are classic books and brand new stories covering topics from trucks to ballet. Google Kids Space replaces your kid’s tablet home screen with an experience that helps kids organize the content they know and love into tabs for apps and games, videos, and books. Google Kids Space can be turned off at any point from within the parent menu.

Google Kids Space requires a Google account for your child. Parental controls require the Family Link app on a supported Android, Chromebook, or iOS device. Availability of features may differ by region. Google Kids Space is available for select Android tablets. Google Assistant is not available in Google Kids Space.

Books and video content may not be available in all regions. Video content subject to availability of YouTube Kids app. Books content requires the Play Books app. Availability of apps, books, and video content may change without notice.

Ratings and reviews

This app is poorly designed, or more accurately, it is made to sell tablets and app to kids. First, it only works with tablets, so if you download this on your phone, it will give you an error at setup without telling you why. There is no phone version. Second, this isn't a place we're you able to curate content for your kids. Instead, you need to trust google's algorithm to curate apps for your kids. you can prevent kids from downloading an app, but they are still going to be marketed to.

installed on my daughters tablet and it's stuck in an update loop. says will update now hit ok and it flashes loading screen spinning top but doesn't do anything and onlyloops back to the update now screen won't actually update. i think it's got a bug. tied turn ing it off or restarting and no success. hopefully gets fixed soon made the tablet un useable till it gets fixed trued different wifi and everything short of resetting

Well suited for smaller kids. Had Nova Launcher set up for my child at first and it worked ok, but migrating him to his own account/profile has been a revelation. He's finding more useful and educational content. And it's a lot easier for me to manage what apps get suggested/installed. Setting up multiple Android Profiles on the same device has also been a revelation. It's a lot to set up and be aware of, so I understand why some parents are confused and can't get it to work the way they want. Wish I could add YouTube Kids content. There are 4 age categories, but I can manually add additional content like I can in the YouTube Kids app on my phone. Enabling search kind of helps though. Wish I could set up a kids space on my phone too!
