The official Google Photos app is made for the way you take photos today and includes essential features like shared albums, automatic creations and an advanced editing suite. Additionally every Google Account comes with 15 GB of storage and you can choose to automatically back up all your photos and videos in High quality or Original quality. You can then access them from any connected device and on photos.google.com.

With the official app, you get:

15 GB OF STORAGE: Back up 15 GB of photos and videos and access them from any device and photos.google.com—your photos are safe, secure, and private to you. All photos and videos you back up in high quality before June 1, 2021 will not count toward your Google Account storage.

Ratings and reviews

Very easy to use app with a few serious flaws. First, there's no way to tell it to cache an album on the device for offline viewing. Second, there's annoying popups on nearly every single photo offering to fix it in one way or another that get in the way of showing photos to others and can't be turned off, only temporarily hidden. Also be aware that you have zero privacy with Google photos. They scan every single photo you upload to train their AIs and to data mine to show you more ads.

I love Google Photos, it's not only a place to store your photos but it actually highlights them with special features, like Memories of a special event, or time. Also saves your photos by linking all of the pictures of a specific person into a space of it's own by face recognition. It's so much more than just a place to keep photos, & videos. If you would like your Google Photos will even create a video or book of photos personalized just for you 💗. Take my word for it, You'll love it too.

Google photos is an app pre-installed on my phone. I would not choose it as my photo storage. It's very messy. I create folders and I can't even organize those in alphabetical order. When I want to find a folder to look at a photo, I have to continue to scroll every random order the folders are thrown in. I hate it. It also chooses random dates to categorize a photo taken on certain dates. A photo taken in 2023, I had to find it in 2022. This app is an organized person's nightmare! No structure!
