Google Voice gives you a phone number for calling, text messaging, and voicemail. It works on smartphones and computers, and syncs across your devices so you can use the app in the office, at home, or on the go.

NOTE: Google Voice only works for personal Google Accounts in the US and Google Workspace accounts in select markets. Text messaging is not supported in all markets.

Keep in mind:
• Google Voice is currently only available in the US. Google Voice for Google Workspace users is available in select countries. Check with your administrator for access.
• Calls made using Google Voice for Android can be placed through a Google Voice access number. All access number based calls use the standard minutes from your cell phone plan and may incur costs (e.g. when traveling internationally).

Ratings and reviews

So frustrating how great but also backwards Google Voice is and so much potential. Google is just not investing in it. -- Why Can't we swipe to archive? Why so many delays? -- the photos received don't save in Google photos. -- Google voice isn't an option to be the default messaging app -- There's no easy or standard way to replace your mobile providers voicemail with Google voice

I love having this alternate number and the additional telephone management services it provides. There are essentially helpful when seeking to avoid roaming charges when you need to place a long distance call or should you need to call out of the country; the rates are more reasonable than those of your cell phone providers.

Does not work anymore. First, the app stopped giving me notifications. My text messages would not show that they were received. I had to exit the app and restart it to get a message to appear that I received hours ago. It was working fine 2 weeks ago. Now, the app is not working at all. It said it can't connect to the network, but it's the only app on my phone saying that. Restarting it did nothing. Looks like the app is dead now. I guess I better download "text now" or some other app
