About this app

Insomnia Coach is designed for Veterans, military Servicemembers, and others who are suffering from insomnia. The app is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) and provides:

* a guided, weekly training plan to help you track and improve your sleep
* a sleep coach with personal feedback about your sleep and fun sleep tips
* an interactive sleep diary to help you keep track of daily changes in your sleep
* 17 tools to help you get your sleep back on track

This app is based on scientific research about how people can change their behaviors and thoughts to improve their sleep. This app does NOT replace professional care.

Insomnia Coach is designed to be used daily for 5 weeks by following the Training Plan. After that, you can continue using the app to track your sleep and maintain good sleep habits.

Insomnia Coach was created by VA’s National Center for PTSD.

pretty good for a govmt app. nice privacy respect, free, no ads. good, helpful education material. the guided session voices could be a few beats slower and sound more relaxed. also would be nice to have an in-progress log open so you can take notes within the app as the night unfolds and in-bed time, instead of external note app and transcribing in the morning. resetting course progress without losing log history after not using it for a while would be nice too so you can get a refresher.

Seemed very useful for tracking how I slept for the first 4 days, but on the 5th day I tried to put my info in, but the app "claimed" the day for it's calculations. There was no warning that I would not be able to enter information. The problem was the 5th day I had the worst sleep overall, and it would not let me track that! I couldn't edit the day afterwards, which is very annoying. I ended up having to reset my data and begin the program again.

Decent app but weird oversights make it frustrating to use. Current example: I fell asleep at 4:05 PM yesterday and didn't wake up until 4:30 the following day. Unusual, sure; but not unheard of for someone with serious sleep debt. It's seemingly impossible to log this, though. No matter how many times I check to make sure it's correct, I'm given a message that I've entered a negative number for my hours slept. Hope this gets fixed because it's a cool app.
