Requirements - The latest version of Pixel Camera only works on Pixel devices running Android 14 and above. The latest version of Pixel Camera for Wear OS only works on Wear OS 3 (and above) devices connected to Pixel phones. Some features are not available on all devices.

Ratings and reviews

Not enough manual settings e.g. ISO, shutter speed, appature, manual focus, etc, and those controls available are buried in too many layers of menus. Need to make settings more easily accessible directly from the main screen. Need option to automatically adjust white balance by touching the area preview screen. No way to disable the automated photo retouching. Generally unhappy with this app.

I generally like the app and love the auto night-sight feature and portrait mode the most. I always have the 3x3 grid enabled to help me position photos. However, after upgrading from a Pixel 5 to Pixel 8, I hate that the photo sphere option was silently removed! I genuinely used it all the time when visiting new places or architectually beautiful rooms so I could show it to others to capture the original ambiance. Also it's too difficult to find the brightness/contrast settings.

Pixel 8 - Meh. Never seems to capture the subtle colors or movements I see, because it's busy trying to optimize the colors to meet some sort of coloring-book standard. Cloud pics are always adjusted to be too blue, no subtle purples or greys. When I zoom in, the picture moves around drunkenly and it's hard to keep it steady on my target, whether I brace the canera or not. The one time I used an iPhone the camera felt rock-steady, and color was great! Might have to get one just for pictures.
