Google Voice gives you a phone number for calling, text messaging, and voicemail. It works on smartphones and computers, and syncs across your devices so you can use the app in the office, at home, or on the go.

NOTE: Google Voice only works for personal Google Accounts in the US and Google Workspace accounts in select markets. Text messaging is not supported in all markets.

Keep in mind:
• Google Voice is currently only available in the US. Google Voice for Google Workspace users is available in select countries. Check with your administrator for access.
• Calls made using Google Voice for Android can be placed through a Google Voice access number. All access number based calls use the standard minutes from your cell phone plan and may incur costs (e.g. when traveling internationally).

Does exactly what textfree does without any of the ridiculous ads. 👍 Bonuses: the app size is also a third the size of textfree, and you can respond from the notification bar (not an option with textfree). If you're looking for something free to use to text with from your phone, do yourself a favor and download this and ignore textfree. You'll be much less frustrated. Call quality isn't the best but that's not what I mostly use it for.

I've been using Google Voice since it first came out and overall love the app and functionality. I really wish they would support RCS! I mean, it's funny because Google made such a big deal about RCS and yet they don't support it in their own product. I also wish they could allow you to set it as your default messaging app because I pretty much exclusively use Google Voice for all my text messages. For example, when I'm in the car I can't ask Google to text somebody via Google voice.

I used this app to get a new phone number for my business; I didn't want to use my personal one. It has been a great tool, personally and for the business. The functionality is great and it easily connects to my phone and sends calls through normally. Messages are ideal and easy to communicate with, and the voice mail transcriptions come in handy for when I can't listen to them. Overall a great app and perfect for my needs! Works well online as well.
