About this app

Google Voice gives you a phone number for calling, text messaging, and voicemail. It works on smartphones and computers, and syncs across your devices so you can use the app in the office, at home, or on the go.

NOTE: Google Voice only works for personal Google Accounts in the US and Google Workspace accounts in select markets. Text messaging is not supported in all markets.

Keep in mind:
• Google Voice is currently only available in the US. Google Voice for Google Workspace users is available in select countries. Check with your administrator for access.
• Calls made using Google Voice for Android can be placed through a Google Voice access number. All access number based calls use the standard minutes from your cell phone plan and may incur costs (e.g. when traveling internationally).

Ratings and reviews

Lazy development: keeps reverting to using wifi instead of carrier for calls, lacks basic functionality, like listing starred contacts first, speed dial, widget for direct messaging a contact, etc. Calls to my voice number often aren't forwarded to my cell number properly. I have left in-app feedback to this effect numerous times over the course of years, to no avail. I've had Google Voice for 14 years -- it has not been improved at all; it is clear they just don't care about making it better.

This is good for keeping business separate from a personal number however, there are a lot of issues. For one, many of my clients don't receive my text messages because it registers as spam. Other issues include inability to copy numbers from the app, no way to attach any files other than pictures ...

BT works fine with all other apps, including Google Phone, BUT NOT GVOICE. I already performed basic troubleshooting, which includes clearing cache and resetting app data, and uninstalling the app, rebooting the phone, and then reinstalling. This is on a OnePlus 7T running Android 12. Google boards don't help, and Reddit reports that this started with Android 12. Android 13 fixes it but my phone can't upgrade to that version.
