Google Voice gives you a phone number for calling, text messaging, and voicemail. It works on smartphones and computers, and syncs across your devices so you can use the app in the office, at home, or on the go.

NOTE: Google Voice only works for personal Google Accounts in the US and Google Workspace accounts in select markets. Text messaging is not supported in all markets.

Keep in mind:
• Google Voice is currently only available in the US. Google Voice for Google Workspace users is available in select countries. Check with your administrator for access.
• Calls made using Google Voice for Android can be placed through a Google Voice access number. All access number based calls use the standard minutes from your cell phone plan and may incur costs (e.g. when traveling internationally).

2025- 2nd review: I had to come back n give 2 stars bcoz it's ridiculous how behind they are in simple text functionalities after so many years in existence: you can't quote reply a text, you can't react to a specific text with emojis, u can't edit a text once sent. if this app was owned by any other company, I wouldn't care but Google has the resources and brain power to make this app better. it's as if they just don't care! 2018- Have used Google voice for years. Great app!

So frustrating how great but also backwards Google Voice is and so much potential. Google is just not investing in it. -- Why Can't we swipe to archive? Why so many delays? -- the photos received don't save in Google photos. -- Google voice isn't an option to be the default messaging app -- There's no easy or standard way to replace your mobile providers voicemail with Google voice

I've been using Google voice as my primary messaging and dialing app for as long as I can remember. It has a few issues, such as the lack of RCS messaging support. Which is quite peculiar all things considered. Searching in messages is also quite unuseful. You can search for a term and get results, but you are unable to jump to that point of a conversation for further review. Lack of RCS messaging may end up being the reason I dump Google voice and port my number over to a carrier
