Ratings and reviews

I want to start by saying that a couple days ago, this was a 5/5. With this most recent update, however, it instantly shoots down to a one. The new UI while watching videos is practically unusable, and if I'm watching a playlist, it CONSTANTLY switches and resets my progress because I slode my finger the wrong way. It's to the point that I'm actually not watching youtube and have decided to do literally anything else. I didn't even know that was possible.

YouTube itself is a great product, the standard bearer and all that. The algorithm is second to none. That said, while the app as seen many great advances in functionality and usability, it's most recent update is a miss. When I minimize a video to look for something else, the bar at the bottom was convenient and easy to browse while the current video played. The new little box is annoying and seems designed to be intentionally difficult to close. I want to rate it lower out of spite, but won't.

Edit: they continue to remove features. More ads, picture in picture no linger works, every time you rotate the screen now it pauses the video... the youtube team at Google is really trying hard to justify their emoyment by removing features for the sake of saying they are doing something. They somehow broke basic functionality recently. Going full screen often times restarts the video, and trying to track through the video to get to where I was also restarts the video. Nice update!
