after purchasing a book, I just got an error saying to try downloading again in a few minutes. it's been hours. I did the troubleshooting, but I still don't have the book I paid for. there is no customer support. I can't recommend an app that takes your money and doesn't have anyone to contact when there is an issue

I’ve used Google Play Books for a long time and really like it overall, especially for uploading EPUBs, highlighting, and taking notes. But the Android app has a serious annotation sync issue. My highlights and notes are visible on Google Play Books web, even when opened from my phone’s browser, so they are clearly still saved to my account. But in the Android app, the same book shows none of those older highlights/notes after reinstalling or clearing app data. Reading position sync still work

I have not only viewed, for "free," many "samples" of many books on Play Books, but I have also PURCHASED many of those exact same books. That said, why for "some" of those same Books that I had paid for, some I can copy and paste from with no restrictions, others, strangely enough, I can not, even though, in the end, I understand "copyrights" and so on and so on. My opinion: distracting, extra-burdensome, time-wasting--and, frankly, not a good way to keep one shopping at the same (ANY) store.
