Great router, lousy app. I've used a lot of routers with parental controls over the years. Some were missing important features, others wouldn't work half the time. Synology router is a dream in that it's a powerful router with every parental control feature I need. But the app is half baked. To make matters worse, there's a Web portal one can use to setup & change parental control settings that's pretty good but this app is missing features or works differently compared to the portal. Why?!?!

This app for the Synology router is great. I've never had any problems using it. It allows me to do everything I need to do with the router without having to login using the web based authentication. It also lets you trigger firmware updates from the app. The parental controls have a wide range of features/options that are all controllable via the app. It's the main reason I made this choice on the specific router. No complaints here.

Typical app made by a hardware company. Poorly thought out UI and poor performance. Very slow when using the QuickConnect method. Needs an option to log in locally or remotely instead of always logging in remotely even when connected to the local network. Most times I use the app for using the Safe Access features (like rewarding my kids with extra wifi time). Unfortunately the number of clicks and time needed to get through to these features are excessive. A dedicated app for this is needed.
