Google Voice gives you a phone number for calling, text messaging, and voicemail. It works on smartphones and computers, and syncs across your devices so you can use the app in the office, at home, or on the go.

NOTE: Google Voice only works for personal Google Accounts in the US and Google Workspace accounts in select markets. Text messaging is not supported in all markets.

Keep in mind:
• Google Voice is currently only available in the US. Google Voice for Google Workspace users is available in select countries. Check with your administrator for access.
• Calls made using Google Voice for Android can be placed through a Google Voice access number. All access number based calls use the standard minutes from your cell phone plan and may incur costs (e.g. when traveling internationally).

Ratings and reviews

It's generally reliable and as good as it gets for a VOIP service. Thank you for the free phone number. Otherwise, I find the interface is too segmented for calls and texting - would be great to see call and text history at the same time. Web Interface is the same, too fragmented. Seems like it is not really improved or "updated" much ...? And, updating contacts must be done outside of the Voice app... It's Very clunky to update or search for contacts.

Update: I have had multiple issues with app, but once you delete and re-install it should fix them. I will add that the record call feature never works...it has worked twice for me and the message is made after being on a call for 30 mins or more. I will say the quality of the call is always good and it allows short codes which is also great as some textfree apps do not. It has a voicemail transcript, even spams calls and text. You have to check it tho because it spammed my dad calls a few times

After 15+ years using this app I still can't set it as my default messenger app. Can anyone shed some light on that. I used to be able to set a custom notification or ring tone, somewhere along the way that feature was removed. Can someone tell me how to set, change, modify, or add a ring / notification tone for incoming messages. Update: Thanks for the fast response but your instructions do not accurately display the features in the app. 'Incoming call notification" does not exist as instructed
