The phone service is cheap, which is their highest selling point. The service isn't bad, but it also isn't great. The reason I'm giving it two stars is for the fact that the service is directly tied to the Google Fi app. If your app isn't up to date then your phone basically does what it wants as far as calls and texts go. I have people all the time sent straight to voicemail, texts aren't received until hours after they were sent, ect. All because the app wasn't updated. It's foolishness.

Visual voicemail SUCKS. The voicemail settings are located in the Google FI app, yet the visual voicemail is handled by a separate app just called Visual Voicemail. And it just doesn't work. I see a notification that there is a voicemail, I open the app, and I click on the phone number, it says "please wait while downloading"and it doesn't download or do anything. No text and no voice either. And no further errors or whatever, all the app does is just say "downloading, wait". So annoying!!

The app is actually pretty nice. Good UI. But the wireless service is terrible. Recurring false "No SIM Card" messages that meant I couldn't use the phone or text messaging. Ordered a new SIM card. No improvement. Got a new phone. No improvement. Switched to Mint Mobile. Great improvement. I read that it's a Google Fi network problem (that, of course, Google doesn't acknowledge). Google does so many things well. It's confounding that they can't/won't fix this.
