Google Voice gives you a phone number for calling, text messaging, and voicemail. It works on smartphones and computers, and syncs across your devices so you can use the app in the office, at home, or on the go.

NOTE: Google Voice only works for personal Google Accounts in the US and Google Workspace accounts in select markets. Text messaging is not supported in all markets.

Keep in mind:
• Google Voice is currently only available in the US. Google Voice for Google Workspace users is available in select countries. Check with your administrator for access.
• Calls made using Google Voice for Android can be placed through a Google Voice access number. All access number based calls use the standard minutes from your cell phone plan and may incur costs (e.g. when traveling internationally).

Ratings and reviews

Dead simple with cool capabilities. I'd be lost without GVoice. That said, I'm so jealous of the features Google Messages has, like RCS. I wish Google would show some love to this product and give it RCS and other capabilities. I've thought about tossing Voice aside, but I'm so invested in my Voice number. I've had it since Voice was Grand Central. At least Google hasn't axed it as a product, but they could do better.

Everything is just going to voicemail. I've looked everywhere through settings and don't see a reason for this. I used to use this app a couple years ago, it was great and all calls would open from the voice app. Now, they want to be pulled into my phones app, why? No ringing, just straight to voicemail. Do not disturb is not on.

I started using Google Voice in 2011. It's stable. Glitches are rare. I've never lost a conversation or missed a voicemail. It gives me the freedom to go to whichever carrier is running the best deal for a cheap new phone and line without having to worry about porting a number, losing data, or the other usual worries that used to keep me married to a carrier and a device. It's elegant in its simplicity and more than the sum of its parts. This is truly a *good* app in practicality and design.
