Youtube is one of the primary ways I get my entertainment, and I appreciate the access creators may get to show their stuff. This app flaunts the most inconsistent UI, and it keeps changing. One would assume frequent updates to be a good thing, but here they are experimental and counterintuitive. Major and basic layouts change too often. An example is the You page where I can find my Playlists. That shouldn't have changed. The playback/UI controls are inconsistent and inconsistent across device

I now spend more time watching ads than content. Ok, if I'm honest, not really, but it feels like it now. The thing I hate most is when a minute long string of unskippable ads pops up saying it saves you from watching ads for a while, but then 10 minutes another minute (or longer) string of ads pops up. I used to like YouTube, and I tolerated the ads (yes, I understand content creators need paid, and I was ok with that), but now there's just way too many ads to the point it ruins content.

Even as a youtube premium user, you cannot turn off auto play on the "watch later playlist". For example, once I'm done watching a video, it will automatically play the next video at the beginning, and when I exit out immediately, I will lose my place on the video timeline. It's especially infuriating when this happens on a podcast that's 4 hours long! It's nearly impossible to find your spot again once the history deletes your previous watch interactions! This is a huge oversight!
