Ip publishing, please don't try so hard to fail. I don't know when UK folks got used to being ripped off with mag prices, but when facing a global audience you should price accordingly. Being the only publisher not offering month to month subs makes me think you want to fail in the digital realm. For now, I'll still be buying retro gamer from you but for most other topics, I'll stick with future publishing. They are expensive too but at least I can sub month to month. I still remember when zzzap and crash were close to £1 (I know, I'm old), what the hell happened? As other comments say, you'd make more money with £20 yearly subs and have a higher circulation to keep your advertisers happy.
Price Is crazy high so didn't buy Plus I read the reviews. I'll just stick to the tech -web sites (until you come to your senses and lower the price). Even Forbes,Time, and PC World have figured out -- customers don't like paying too much, and will keep on waiting . Good luck though :-) Btw- I almost never write reviews, but when I saw that price, I said to myself...wow! These ppl sure have a lot of confidence or have been mislead. So I thought, either way, I'd tell you the truth-only impulsive rich ppl w/$ to waste will buy this app/mag.
I use XDA and Android themed blogs for info but... I normally buy this magazine at service stations when on road trips as sometimes it's nice to get another point of view with something to look at rather than a forum of mainly text. The magazine itself is almost £5 so this is quite cheap for a copy, especially when I know I can have it with me in a lot of places that I'd never take a hard copy. Most of what is in this magazine would never match forums like XDA but, I have always found something useful like an tip or an app in every copy that I have never seen in any forum (mainly because it's staring right at me and I don't have to search for it or be looking at the site at certain times to catch things). Most of the things I'm interested in I will do my own research but, I will still buy a magazine or book just in case there's something I'm missing out on. I very much doubt any mainstream magazine will be enough to baffle me with science but, I have other sources for when I put my thinking cap on. This is just something to pass some time.
Undecided Subscription model digital. £32.99 to subscribe for 1 year. 13 yearly issues so £2.54 an issue. Subscription model paper: £15 for 6 issues using the 50% off code (LAL020B). So £2.50 an issue. Cheaper for paper issue (by a few pence) and with paper only have to commit for 6 months. Advantages of paper. Able to read on loo with no risk of expensive water damage (besides paper dries off easier than my tablet). Can pass to friends when done or doctors waiting room etc. Advantages of digital. Always with me on phone or tablet. Will make my mind up soon but at the moment I am looking to sticking with the paper subscription. £20-£25 would definitely have me hooked on a digital sub. Edit: Should add, up to now I have been paying the monthly paper issue cost of £4.99 (for last 3 issues) but planned to go for paper sub before I saw digital available here. Now???
Good info, but not up to date I occasionally buy the print version of this, and while there is often very useful nuggets of information in it, some is very out of date. For example the current issue (25) recommends Google calendar sync, a service that has been discontinued and closed to new registrations since January, and the Cloudskipper app which has been abandoned. It also can have misleading cover stories. For example, again in issue 25, one of the cover stories is about Key Lime Pie. The article itself however doesn't actually show any features or screenshots of KLP, it's just about backing up your phone and the changes to the Play store.
5****s UPDATED Update: IM SO GLAD PRICES WENT DOWN! NOW I DO SUBSCRIBE TO THIS MAG BC I THINK $33 IS WORTH THE PRICE. 5 ***** INSTEAD OF 4 :) wouldve gave ya 5*****s but I do agree with mostly everyone the price is WAY too high! I did buy one digital copy n dont get me wrong I do love it. But do I think its worth 47$ a year!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!! But in my opinion NO magazine is worth that much. I would pay 30$ at most for a year but thats it. Especially this being a digital mag n not paper. I would hate to ask how the paper copy is a year to send :O. But I do love the magazine n like someone said if u have some type of special I would def buy :)
