I have loved this app for years until the latest update. I have the same issue someone recently mentioned in their review. In a group chat, they there is one person when they send a photo, it gets sent to me separately, not in the group chat, and the media doesn't download. I get the spinning circle with an X in the middle and says unavailable. I've tried all the suggestions on how to troubleshoot and nothing helps.

I've had no problem with Google Messages until about a few months ago. It started with my messages saying unavailable for the person texting me and it also had a download icon when you click on the text message. This problem seems to be with group texting. Update 2/27/26 I did call my mobile carrier they did all they can do on there end. I even did a update for Google Messages.After doing all these things. I am still getting the Unavailable text message. Really disappointed. Fix it Google!!!

My group messages have stopped working within the past few days. I'll get about 70% of the messages in my groups but the other 30% just look like they're from individual people that need to be downloaded. I try to download the messages but they never successfully download. It's very bad and making me miss out on very important messages. I've tried clearing the cache, re-installing the app, restarting the phone, etc. I've also filed a complaint but haven't heard back. Do NOT use this app.
