About this app

Create a more organized and personalized smart home with Google Home. Set up, manage, and control your Google Nest, Wifi, and Chromecast devices, plus thousands of compatible smart home products like lights, cameras, thermostats, and more – all from the Google Home app.

Personalize your home view.
Pin your most-used devices, automations, and actions to the Favorites tab for easy access right when you open the app. View your Nest cameras and doorbell live feeds, and easily scan through event history. Set up and manage Routines in the Automations tab. And quickly edit any permissions in the consolidated Settings tab.

Understand what’s going on at home with a glance.
The Google Home app is designed to show you the status of your home and keep you up to date with what you may have missed. Check in on your home anytime and see a recap of recent events.

Control your home from anywhere.
Google Home for Wear OS allows you to control compatible smart home devices from your watch. Turn on the lights, adjust the thermostat, or get an alert when there’s a person or package at your front door. Use the favorites tile or add a device to your watch face to make managing your home as easy as a tap on the wrist.

A helpful home is a private home.
Protecting your privacy starts with one of the world’s most advanced security infrastructures, which we build directly into Google products so they’re secure by default. And Google uses your compatible devices and data to make your home helpful, but only in the ways you allow. Visit the Google Nest Safety Center at safety.google/nest to learn more about how we protect your information and respect your privacy.

Well, yet again, with the latest "bug fixes and updates", the app has gone way downhill in it's ability to control groups of paired Google smart speakers. In the past, it's always been a hassle to get Spotify to work reliably and consistently along with Google Home, but Di.fm, SoundCloud, and SiriusXM were always golden (though the SiriusXM app went through a problematic time after an app redesign, but finally got back on track). So it's clear that Google Home is likely the most at fault. Damn.

I have 6 Google home devices spread out over my house controlling lights, TV's, speakers etc... for years they worked very well and I loved my Google smart home. I felt like I was living in 2030. I have no idea what happened but my speakers buzz and click (the newest one) Google won't respond to my voice half the time. When it does respond it's wildly inaccurate. It can't find devices half the time for no apparent reason. It's a buggy mess. It's infuriating and I will be switching platforms.

I'm about to switch to Alexa. Google home is consistently unreliable garbage. it kicks smart devices offline for days and weeks at a time randomly, until they patch it. Negating the idea of a RELIABLE smart home. My dog sits in the dark all night because the app doesn't turn on my lights. It's Google's failure as all my smart devices work just fine in their 3rd party apps. Like geeni, ecobee & roku. And highly unlikely all 3 apps would fail at the same time. It's Google messing it up.
