Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts by adding a second step of verification when you sign in. This means that in addition to your password, you'll also need to enter a code that is generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone. The verification code can be generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone, even if you don't have a network or cellular connection.

What I really don't get is the "sync codes with your account". Storing codes online sounds like someone hacks that one account they have access to all your accounts? I don't use 2factor authentication for it to be easy, I use it to be safe - but maybe I'm missing something here. You're only as safe as your weakest link. Latest UI is not helpful, it's badly explained and unclear. I've used Google Authenticator for a long time though, and I am always by nature cautious when it comes to security

App no longer appears in my app drawer or on my home screen, and when I search my device it doesn't appear. However, when I search the play store it says it's installed and gives me the option to open the app. I'll be really upset if something happens and I have to go through some pita process to recover a bunch of accounts that use two-factor with Google authenticator.

App suddenly desynced from the correct time, and the directions in the Help do not match the reality of what is actually in the app, as if they are outdated for a previous version. As a result, my codes only work for the first few seconds and then stop working. I then have to wait several more seconds for a new one to generate. There is no apparent support to contact about this error.
