About this app

Google News is a personalised news aggregator that organises and highlights what’s happening in the world so that you can discover more about the stories that matter to you.

With Google News, you’ll find:

YOUR BRIEFING: It can be nearly impossible to keep up with every story that you care about; Your Briefing makes it easy to stay in the know about what’s important and relevant in your world. It updates throughout the day to bring you the top local, national and world headlines, plus personalised news tailored to your interests.

LOCAL NEWS: Explore your community through stories and articles from news outlets in your local area. Customise and choose multiple locations so that you can know what’s happening near you or wherever home is.

FULL COVERAGE: Dive deeper into a story with multiple perspectives. The Full coverage feature organises everything online about a story, surfacing and highlighting coverage from different outlets and media. With just a tap, you’ll uncover how the story is unfolding and how everyone is reporting on it.

STORIES FOR YOU: The For You section delivers personalised news related to your interests. Take control and customise the articles that you see by following the topics and sources that you care about.

ACCESS FROM ANY DEVICE: Google News is designed to meet the needs of users with different phones and levels of connection. When your connection isn’t strong or you need to save data, Google News will continue to work smoothly by slimming down the size of images and downloading less data. Articles can be downloaded over Wi-Fi to save for later when you are offline.

Do you prefer to access your news on your laptop or desktop? Pair the Google News mobile app with our desktop website, news.google.com, so that you can stay up to date and access the news no matter what device you’re on.

Thank you for the fix. I have noticed stories I'm reading stay open and the refresh happens after I leave. Makes for a better reading experience Please STOP forcing an app refresh when I'm either reading an article or adding a comment. I'm yanked out of what I'm reading and often can't find it again, or have to scroll forever to pick up where I left off.

Hi Julia. Thank you for letting us know about this issue, and your patience as we fixed the problem. We appreciate it! With the latest update, Google News should now be working as usual.

When I try to snooze the motion sensor alerts it does not work. Help says to go to device and then go to motion snooze and adjust the slider. There is no motion snooze option under my device. There is a setting where I can set a time to snooze but it does not work. Alexa goes off every time the mower goes by. Or anybody else that I try to snooze. So it appears that this app is up to date. I guess that means the help section is wrong. Very annoying issue.

If you like celebrity trash news, this app is for you. Otherwise, it not a serious news outlet. I tried excluding subjects, items, and especially celebrity news only to be bombarded with more. You never seem to get an uninterrupted article without reading so far through only to be presented with, "continue reading" and have select it twice to complete an article. I have tried to see the positive with it, but I think it's close to being uninstalled.
