I do like the ability to buy extra storage and the auto backup features, I am just very disappointed at the lack of user control. It is NOT OK to just notify me that your software apps are going to tidy up my files and randomly delete files IT THINKS are unnecessary duplicates - for example, if I was to have a series of files about blue monkeys, one copy in a folder marked "blue stuff" which may be important as a record of a submission or record of my work, but then wished to reuse that file in another folder marked "monkey business" as part of keeping records, it is really annoying that when the app updates itself, the files it considers duplicates are randomly deleted!!! Unacceptable!!! Often this "tidy up" is not as easy to spot and I have been very inconvenienced at missing files.!! It is also not a feature that is able to be turned off AFAIK When you fix this issue and stop the tail wagging the dog I will reconsider my review. Fine if the app wants to notify me of duplicates but I am the human and I get to say where I save my damn files on my devices, and my purchased cloudspace. Bad Google.

I've had this about a year. The description reads: "Automatically back up the important things on your phone, like photos, contacts and messages... notice it says "like." Now I personally regard my calendar as an important thing. I accidentally deleted my calendar on another device. had a rude awakening that the backup DID NOT include calendar nor does it have the capacity to include the calendar. in fact you need a non Google app in order to be able to import and export a calendar back up.

Have been using the subscription service for quite some time (over 3-4 years) which has been great. In the middle of my year's subscription, I decided to trial the AI premium tier, which I decided wasn't for me, so I stopped the trial - only to find that Google will not honour the rest of my paid subscription service??? What an absolute joke. Not only that, but they refuse to escalate to their management on these unfair practices.
