This is good app for minimizing a user's interactions with their Android phone, while still allowing general functionality. I prefer using this in my car over the individual apps. The Amazon Music app is a little odd when used within this app, as it sometimes shuffles one artist when I try to shuffle my whole music collection. Luckily, I spend most of my time with Podcast Addicts, and that works very nicely within this app.
Good rough draft Usable & good basic functions, but definite room to grow. Such as: 1-swiping away cards. I don't always need or want a card with my most recent maps search to display, or a persistent notification that a text arrived, etc. 2-choose which apps can appear. Ex, I don't want Facebook message alerts. 3-turn off audio over Bluetooth, I want to listen to FM radio and hear audio feedback from my device. 4-access to more than the most recently received SMS. And so on...
Quite good (phone interface) but just needs a couple of tweaks It works quite well and I love the Google Now integration. Yet as many know, here in California you are not allowed to touch your phone at all while driving. It really needs an option in settings to automatically read out a text and then ask if you want to reply for each message that comes in without having to touch the screen to have it read every time. Also, a Bluetooth interrupt for the stereo is needed. I have a Ford with MFT Sync2 and it will not interrupt the stereo to read the text.
Great update! Now I don't need to buy a compatible car. Take notes, Toyota! Keep ignoring Android Auto and AppleCar and eventually you will take the route of Sony. As for Google, you'll get 5 stars if you iron out the bugs and add "Okay Google" support. Update: voice prompt is now operational. Now, start improving animate transition.
Continuous error I have a Nexus 6p and all the app does is open and say Google play services are not running. Uninstall and reinstall a number of times and no change. Followed all the "troubleshooting" and ensured Google Play Services was up to date. Won't work without a car even. They say you can use it in any car but, the app won't even let me use it. Just can't use it at all.
It's great but a few issues I've encountered a couple of issues with this on my new Pixel handset that weren't a problem on my M9. I use a stereo 3.5mm jack to connect this to my car system, but for calls on my Pixel, android auto default's to the loudspeaker on the handset rather than using the car speakers. Also replying to messages on WhatsApp doesn't work on this device. I'll say "reply", only to be told that "this chat app is not installed or needs an update". It is installed and is up to date. Yet it works fine on my M9.
