If you're a Nationwide customer and you enrolled in the SmartRide Mobile Program (available in all states except AK, CA, HI, LA, NY and PR), you can continue your participation by downloading and registering the SmartRide Mobile App.

As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce distracted driving, the SmartRide Mobile App also keeps track of how often you interact with your phone while your vehicle is in motion. Phone distractions don't affect your discount, but knowing your data can help you stay safe.

My percentage went down for no apparent reason. I'm about 5 weeks into it and my percentage was up to 40%. I thought I was doing great and then it dropped to 29%. I can't figure why the percentage went down since my numbers were down across the board. Lower mileage, lower idle time, zero night driving, zero hard brake/acceleration and no phone distractions. I looked throughout the app in search of a reason, but couldn't find any. What good is this app if there's no explanation on why?

The app is working well. However I don't always have the time to adjust each trip. When my passenger is using my phone in the car, there is no way to go back and change it from a previous trip. Also I don't have Bluetooth in my car. I use a device I plug in and it still shows me using my phone instead of using Bluetooth 🙃. Otherwise I like the app!

Like the app overall. Glad it does not count touching your phone screen against you in the discount. That worries me about other insurance company's apps. I would like to see more time allowed for a good score on nighttime driving. Or at least do not count 5 am driving to work as nighttime. Hardly any traffic and much safer to be on the road in the early morning hours.
