Ratings and reviews

Google search bar should always be at the top. I scroll down the results page and I'll hit the bar by accident and the search pops up and interrupts my scrolling because the bar is at the bottom. It's not easy to use. It's not user-friendly and it's not intuitive at all. It also covers up search results. This is the 2nd app I have that has put search bar at the bottom. Amazon moved it back to the top. Stop trying to make bottom search bars happen.

My problem narrows down to getting the Google Assistant to wake up or even respond to "Hey Google" anymore. It used to for YEARS up until a couple of weeks ago. If I hold down the home button, THAT wakes up the Assistant and it will follow my verbal commands perfectly. It also used to repeat my commands back to me just prior to carrying them out. No more. I've spent countless hours with Google One c/s to no avail. At least 7 different attempts and all the trouble shooting gets me nowhere.

Unkillable, pointless bloatware. I DON'T use the assistant. I type.I have NO NEED OR DESIRE to have speech to text or samples of my voice being saved for possible exploitation by data breeches. I am responsible for my own reminders. If I want to search, I fire up a browser. Thank goodness that discover page can be turned off. It's a waste of bandwidth. Unless this provides core routines that Google Maps / translate / calendar uses, I wish I could delete it.

What's new

• Use voice commands while navigating – even when your device has no connection. Try saying "cancel my navigation" "what's my ETA?" or "what's my next turn?"
