I really like the Google Messages apps, but there is functionality that needs to be added in if you want people to switch from traditional text messages. First, when a text message comes in, the screen would turn on to show that a message was received. This is good if you are doing something and you don't want to look at the phone everything it dings for activity or alerts. Secondly, with text messages, the user has the ability to assign ring tones to people in their contact list. Need this!!!

The app was okay. I was excited to be able to like photos, etc. Which was cool, but messages were difficult to navigate. I used it for about a week and switched back. If there was an option to have groups, and they ported over from my device, I would consider going back. I receive constant communication daily for work and whatnot, so this was uber inconvenient. At the end of the day, a thumbs up wasn't worth the functionality. It would be nice to swipe and reply to respond to specific as well.

Might seem petty and given I'm OCD, nonetheless I wish there was an option to change the colors of the icons at the left on the list of text threads. The alternating of pink, blue, orange, yellow, red, green, purple, etc... is ugly to me. You can only change individual ones if that contact is does the same. Seems easy enough to allow for customization as Messages+ did
