About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging. Google Messages is revolutionising how a billion users connect and is powered by Rich Communication Services (RCS), the industry standard for texting that replaces SMS and MMS. With RCS, you can share high-resolution photos and videos, enjoy dynamic group chats and seamlessly connect with other RCS users, including your iPhone friends.

• Rich communication: Share high-quality photos and videos, see when friends are typing and enjoy dynamic group chats that now seamlessly include your iPhone friends.
• Personal touch: Make conversations uniquely yours with features like custom chat bubble colours or fun selfie GIFs.
• Privacy matters: Rest easy knowing that your personal chats are protected with end-to-end encryption between Google Messages users, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person that you're messaging. Plus, enjoy advanced spam protection.
• AI-powered messaging: Craft the perfect message with Magic Compose suggestions and our latest AI features.
• Seamless across devices: Start a chat on your phone and continue it effortlessly on your tablet or computer. The app is also available on Wear OS.

Google Messages is more than just messaging; it's a richer, safer and more expressive way to connect.

The app is also available on Wear OS. Availability of RCS varies by region and operator, and a data plan may be required. Availability of features varies by market and device, and sign-up for beta testing may be required.

Google Messages has a serious reliability issue: some SMS messages simply don’t appear in the main conversation list, even though they can be found by searching for the sender. This has caused me to miss important texts. An SMS app that doesn’t consistently display all messages isn’t suitable for purpose, and this problem has persisted long enough that I’ve had to stop using it.

Hi John. Can you try to uninstall and reinstall the Messages app itself? Open the Play Store app > search Messages app > Uninstall > Reinstall/Update. Hope this helps.

After the most recent update, when I try to send an invite from my Google calendar to someone via Google Messenger instead of pulling up the text box with the date info populated in the text, it just opens the messaging app. No way to send an invite like I was able to do yesterday. STOP sending out updates to your apps that don't work or take away functionality to the apps! Google Calendar update was today too! Unfortunately there's no way to undo an update anymore. Unacceptable!

My issue is the emoji button. I keep pressing it when I hit send/move the cursor to edit text. my keyboard already has it! Also, If i view videos 1080p or above w/ 60fps, it crashes, Samsung sms doesn't crash. It has txts i received 2 yrs ago but not my replies! why do my imported txts dated set to 12-31-1969? I have to keep switching to sam. sms since the dates are wrong! Reactions are flawed. if they react to the txt it works but if it's to the image it sends txt "loved an image" needs fixing
