To use Android Auto on your car display, you’ll need an Android phone running Android 8 or higher, an active data plan, and the Android Auto app.

For Lyft drivers, continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

By downloading the app, you agree (i) to receive communications from Lyft, including push notifications; and (ii) to allow Lyft to collect your device's language settings. You can opt out of receiving push notifications through your device settings.

You may see a different experience in select cities. If Upfront Pay is not available in your city, then you will be paid for each minute and mile of the trips you complete, based on your city’s per-minute and per-mile rates. Upfront Pay is not available in Washington state, New York City, Portland or Toronto.

Ratings and reviews

Have always loved Lyft, but since the last update, it has been performing poorly. Its response is slow, to the point of being a hazard when getting directions to a pickup or dropoff, as well as when responding to a request for pickup. Reported this to Lyft after doing all the usual things (updating, uninstalling and re-installing, purging caches, re-booting, etc.) when it first started, but it's been over 10 days and no improvement. PLEASE FIX THIS!

This app has been lagging the last couple of days. All screen touches either lag by several seconds or do not register at all. The GPS lags so badly it's difficult to tell where and when to turn. I lose rides because my selections aren't registered quickly enough. Whatever update was used is awful and for all of this to happen in a major holiday weekend is the worst! I have tried restarting my phone as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it still does not work!

I just started driving with Lyft and the app is so frustrating. It lags in every possible way, causing me to be unable to accept rides, GPS lags and/or just dissappears, phone calls connect, but neither the driver nor the rider can hear anything making it impossible to find your rider when the map is just black and you can't hear what they are saying to you or read a message they sent because the app won't move. The map changes orientation at random. It should not be this difficult!!!
