As an Uber/Lyft driver it's the most reliable navigation tool you could possibly have. It saves time and makes passenger pick ups easier than other navigation apps. The only downside is when there are passengers under a freeway or underpass, the app is confused and thinks the person is on the freeway. If this could be fixed Google Maps would definitely be a perfect 10.
Before now, you could tap the sceen to make all of the buttons and interface options disappear and it would just show the plain map. For some reason it seems that's been removed so the interface is permanently displayed. Why remove a feature that worked perfectly fine?
This app has become too clumsy and congested from a UX perspective. The default cards opening covers 50% of the screen. By default it should be closed so that we can see the map full-screen. Also, maybe improve the compass calibration settings. Alternatively you can release a lite version of this app, just for navigation and basic usage, without too many bells and whistles.
This has happened twice now: I enter my destination and it navigates me somewhere else completely. For example I was driving from Ohio and navigated to a soccer park in a suburb of Chicago and it instead took me to a parking garage downtown. I had the address to the park and everything. Also loses GPS signal constantly unless my screen is turned on.
Most recently it no longer tells you what road to make next turn on, simply turn left in 500 ft... I don't stare at the map while driving. I shouldn't have to. I preferred when it told you actual directions. Accuracy is fine but this makes me want to look at other aps.
I'm disappointed with Google Map even the most updated app. The route or direction often confusing, wrong, bringing me make a dumb route or turning big round & around. The walking doesn't show which is the starting point or destination bus stop, assumed that I knew it? If I know, I don't need Google map. No plane, boat/ship, train transportation icon in app but only available on web based. I wish Google provides in app. Sigh....
