Lacks personalization options, overemphasizes fast route vs. mileage/fuel efficiency, won't learn from my driving choices. Often tries to take me miles out of my direct route to save a minute or two. Day after day, I ignore such guidance and drive a more direct route, but Google maps never adapts. Even my 5-year-old Toyota's in-dash GPS lets me pick from fast, short, and eco-friendly options. Why can't this app offer more customization? Also, sometimes there's no start button after I've set up a route. Finally, route doesn't resume when continuing trip after turning off phone.
Google Maps works great for me, I never have a problem with it. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is cause I'd like see you guys add a bookmarks or favorite places feature. I want to be able to write a friends name and have their address come up or save a place you found that's kinda off the grid and you want to remember it for future reference. EDIT: Boom, places and labels is a thing now. 5 stars!
Great update, but still, would you consider adding option for major road only which is used for cars, cause we've been re-routing to unpaved road for faster route which is not suitable for cars. Its need more features. Also often gps tracking lost and longer to back tracking again.
The update that signals the arrival and DONE should of stayed in Manuel mode the AUTO DONE feature is annoying and frustration when you pass up the address. The older version when it would reroute you till you pushed DONE Manuely. Was much better for business meetings.
It's an ok app, does its job and good for traffic info. But it's not my choice of map whilst driving. Unlike other maps, it does not give the speed limit of the road, no speed warnings, no speed camera info, no alternative routes. The roundabouts don't give the correct exit position. Needs an easy exit button to close map. This app is ok as a back up.
The app does what it says and in my experience does it well. It is not the easiest or most intuitive app, so it needs some practice to be able to use it efficiently. One serious omission is your speed during navigation; other sat navs show your driving speed and warn you when you exceed the speed limit. This would be invaluable when driving, and interesting when cycling.
