Ratings and reviews

Almost every time an add is played in the middle of a video, the video starts lagging after it continues until I close and reopen the video. This started after the latest update. The app is unbearable now. It's extremely frustrating. Clearing cache and data, uninstalling, and using a fresh install didn't fix it. Restarting my phone didn't fix it either. My phone is a Samsung A53, with the latest software updates installed.

Since a couple of months I have to manually set every video to the desired, max, quality. Every video automatically reverts to 720p, this is not due to the settings in my app. I even have premium which now allows for higher bitrate, probably used to be the standard for free YouTube and now something you have to pay for but I digress, but it never automatically selects it. This becomes worse when I'm using my Chromecast because I have to use the remote feature to select the higher quality 😖

Edit 01-05-24: so the folks at YouTube thought, hmmm it's very convenient when streaming to a smart TV to press the video and then press add to queue. How can we make this app less convenient? Oh, I know! Let's make that if you press a video it plays immediately. This app has become ABYSMAL bad. What are they smoking at YouTube HQ?! When you type a comment the whole app freezes and crashes.
