Ratings and reviews

The June 24, 2024 update causes the widget to crash. "Search a song" hangs, and says no input was detected, and asks to try again. When trying to access the app, the app crashes and deletes the icon. All I want to do is use the Google App search bar widget. Galaxy S21, with plenty of storage and RAM. No reason why the app should no longer work with my phone, unless Google is attempting users to use the Assistant app, or some AI version of it.

One can no longer use "Hey Google" to perform simple searches. By default, it opens the ai that will not search for anything that it seems inappropriate regardless of the research potential. The only 2 workarounds are to either disable the voice assist which defeats the point, or say "Search" before each and every query. The ai even insisted I use a 3rd party search engine if I want voice command functionality in a search engine. Ai should be an option not compulsory. Fix this!

Like Alexa and the other "helper" it definitely is nosy and is listening to everything I say. So many times I didn't use the key phrase "Hey Google" to illicit a response & google still popped up many times. Several minutes later It was still typing out what I said. 🤬 Uses a lot of "UPDATE" Data, so if you don't have a good plan, shop around. Voice commands when there is no connection! Didn't work my entire 1300 mile trip to upper WA. I couldn't even get a reply from google for almost 6 hours!

What's new

• Use voice commands while navigating – even when your device has no connection. Try saying "cancel my navigation" "what's my ETA?" or "what's my next turn?"
• It's easier to access privacy settings from the homescreen. Just tap your Google Account profile picture.
