Ratings and reviews

The default Google launcher had a nice feed of news articles based on settings and things you read peppered with some other things. It has gradually been removed so that now there are no news there. Instead we have this app with Google's usual random approach to timelines (nothing appears in a logical chronological order) and the settings you choose, which are not transferred over from the launcher, seem to have very little if any impact on what news you get shown. Instead you get the big top news in the US for the first few pages followed, possibly, by something more local and/or topical far down. Overall the experience is less interesting news and more annoyance.

Just terrible. I held off updating from the old version to this rubbish because of the other reviews. The widget is particularly awful; no dark mode, only one size, and not enough news. The widget was what I primarily used, but I suppose I will not be using that anymore. Whoever you have in your UX department seems very clueless. That, or they're millennials obsessed with Instagram, that assume making a news app similar to Instagram was a good idea...

Sorting preferences - This app needs the ability to sort by release date. I searched one topic and I want to see the lastest. Its November and I'm seeing articles from May at the start. I had to scroll through May, July, August in random placing. I'd like newest first not 5 or 10 places down. With how tech savy Google is they at least be able to do that.
