Google Play services is used to update Google apps and apps from Google Play.
This component provides core functionality like authentication to your Google services, synchronized contacts, access to all the latest user privacy settings, and higher quality, lower-powered location based services.
Google Play services also enhances your app experience. It speeds up offline searches, provides more immersive maps, and improves gaming experiences.
Apps may not work if you uninstall Google Play services.

Ratings and reviews

The app will automatically download games that I haven't chosen. Especially when I'm not using my phone. If there is a way to turn this feature off, it's not clear. Setting for this app are hard to find and it needs all permissions turned on or it might not work right. I have also scanned my device for viruses in malware. No problems can be found when I do the scan, so that is not the problem.

This app is a little more "invasive" than it needs to be. Like another person, I will turn on the phone, and too often I find that apps (games usually) have been installed on my phone. Sometimes the settings app is opened. It makes it look like the phone has been hacked though scanning shows nothing. Looking at battery usage, I have found it to be up near the top of the list. A little more control over this app would be nice.

I was prompted to update, even though it was up to date. I uninstalled/reinstalled and had to set everything up all over again. However, my location isn't working anymore! I've tried all the troubleshooting steps I could find but I'm not receiving any prompts or options to "always allow" location for my Google Play Services app. it's not popping up in my recent access no matter what I do and it absolutely sucks
