Forced me to pay to file my negative tax return. On top of my 2500 to the IRS I got to pay 60 to turbo tax. Yay! I won't be back. its very frustrating when a simple return turns "complicated" all of the sudden at the end and your "free" tax return changes after doing the same return in the past with no issues. I filed a late one and they slipped in an extra $54 fee on top of the $97. then slipped another 40 something on top of that. I think I'll get a better tax person.

This is the age of hidden fees and the bait and switch. I was given three options, let them do it, guided help, or do it myself. I chose the do it myself free version or so I thought. At no point can I switch my selection, $79 later and then they have the audacity to charge $44 to use it from the return. On the app there's a smallll section on the diy page for the free version. You can scroll right past it and not notice. They guide you into the paid version, making you hunt for the real one.

Apparently, TurboTax is tied to Intuit , and I was unaware I had a preexisting registration. Was able to retrieve log-in information and use the app. Aside from the pretty expensive add-ons they offer throughout your filing process, it was relatively quick and easy. I can't really compare returns since this was my first time self filing, but it took roughly 20 minutes to complete and was approved within the hour. Decent return compared to H&R, that's for sure.
